AFS Releases Its 2024 Sustainability Report Online

A vision of carbon-neutral production and circular economy in the HVAC industry

AFS, one of the leading brands in the HVAC industry, has released its 2024 Sustainability Report, covering its environmental, social, and governance performance. Prepared in accordance with GRI Standards, the report presents the company’s activities in the areas of energy efficiency, carbon management, waste reduction, water resource conservation, and ethical governance, supported by technical data.

Renewable Transformation in Energy Management

AFS generated 589,045 kWh of electricity in 2024 through its Solar Power Plant, with an installed capacity of 651,000 kWh, located on the rooftop of its production facility in the Ankara İvedik Organized Industrial Zone. This production enabled the company to meet 50% of its electricity demand from renewable sources. Additionally, 100% of its electricity consumption was certified with I-REC (International Renewable Energy Certificate), neutralizing Scope 2 emissions.

Circular Economy and Resource Efficiency

Adopting an industrial symbiosis approach, AFS directs production scrap generated in its processes toward recovery for reuse in the cement industry. Furthermore, certain waste materials are reprocessed through physical treatments and reintegrated into production processes. This model ensures the integration of circular economy principles into production lines and maximizes waste recovery rates.

An Integrated Approach Through Sustainability Governance

The Sustainability Directorate, established in 2023, has been positioned at the center of strategic decision-making processes across the organization as of 2024. To systematically monitor sustainability targets and evaluate performance indicators, the company is also implementing a Sustainability Committee structure.

The Committee will define annual targets in areas such as energy management, occupational health and safety, environmental performance, human resources, and supply chain management, forming the foundation of the company’s 2030 Sustainability Strategy.

Executive Statement

Ahmet Poyraz, Deputy General Manager of AFS, commented:

“At AFS, we consider sustainability not merely as an environmental necessity, but as a transformative element at the core of our corporate strategy. Our transition to renewable energy, the standardization of our carbon management processes, and our resource efficiency practices are all integral parts of our goal to lead the low-carbon production model in our industry.”

Recognized with the “Low Carbon Hero” Award

AFS’s efforts in energy management and I-REC certification were honored with the “Low Carbon Hero” award at the 10th Istanbul Carbon Summit, organized by the Sustainable Production and Consumption Association (SÜT-D). With this achievement, the company reduced its indirect emissions by 22%, setting an exemplary model for the Turkish HVAC industry.

With its 2024 Sustainability Report, AFS documents not only its environmental performance but also its commitments in ethical governance, stakeholder engagement, human resources policies, and social contribution projects.
