In 2022, AFS pioneered a significant initiative in the air conditioning sector by publishing a Carbon Footprint Report as part of its efforts to combat climate change. The brand continues its policies of building a sustainable future across all business processes, releasing the 2023 Carbon Footprint Report along with verification statements by TOBB MEYBEM.
AFS, a leading brand in the air conditioning sector, which exports to nearly 100 countries from its factories located in Ankara İvedik OSB and Sincan OSB, published its 2023 “Carbon Footprint Report” after conducting a comprehensive study covering all operational phases to assess the impact of its activities on climate change and plan for the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. The report highlights a decrease in values compared to 2022 due to improvements in operational data. Additionally, it draws attention to the remarkably low share of carbon emissions resulting from electricity consumption, thanks to both factories generating their own electricity with a solar power plant consisting of 2,537 panels installed on the roofs. AFS aims to eliminate emissions in this category in the coming years.
AFS Deputy General Manager Ahmet POYRAZ stated, “Each unit of reduction in our carbon footprint provides social, economic, and ecological benefits. As AFS, we are working hard to reduce our carbon footprint, which is one of the main drivers of global warming and climate change. At the same time, we aim to raise awareness and turn this awareness into a behavior and attitude. The world is facing not just climate change but a climate crisis, triggered by global warming. International efforts are being made with great sensitivity to reduce greenhouse gases. Our greenhouse gas emission report, prepared in accordance with the TS EN ISO 14064-1 standard for 2022 and 2023, has been verified through TOBB MEYBEM’s thorough audits. The verification statement was presented to AFS General Manager Zeki POYRAZ by MEYBEM General Manager Ahmet Saygın BABAN. Thus, we have taken another significant step in line with our mission of environmental and social responsibility. The steps we have taken to monitor and reduce our greenhouse gas emissions, approved by TOBB, are a source of motivation for us. AFS will continue to reduce its carbon emissions year after year, aiming to improve each year compared to the last. We thank everyone involved for their efforts,” he said.
